Barcelona - Day 3

The weather today was very overcast and chilly. The first "bad" day. We got up a little late, had breakfast and set out to go to the Aquarium. Well, this was a total disappointment. For 14,50 euros per person we walked through like 10 exhibits and it was over. Very disappointing and kids screaming and running all around us. It took us 30 minutes to walk through the whole aquarium. After that we decided to walk through a part of the city that we hadn't explored yet called Barri Gotic. This is my favorite part of the city so far. Narrow streets that open into plazas, cute little restaurants and shops and balconies that have flowers hanging from them. It was so charming and I didn't want to leave. We walked around a good two hours before we decided to go eat lunch. The first place we went to was fully booked. The next place we went to was open and we went in. We walked through the kitchen to get to the host..very cool! I had the house paella, which had shrimp, langostino and mussels in it..very good. Dave had the squid in its own ink. He totally went out on a limb with that selection, but was surprised to find it tasty. Very difficult to look at, but tasted good. After that we went back out and walked around again. Did some window shopping and decided to go to this place that was supposed to have killer hot chocolate. Gosh was it good! Dave had the picante xocolate and I had the banana xocolate and we both had a crossiant with jam. The hot chocolate was so dark and rich..very good!

Tomorrow we are planning a very touristy day! We are taking a bus tour of the city. We weren't going to do it, but it takes you to places that we wouldn't otherwise get to see. We are going to the top of the mountain to overlook the city. That is going to be neat!

  • That would explain why there are so many little kiosks and actual lottery stores in Barcelona! There are more lottery stores then grocery stores...hehehe!
