Barcelona - Day 5

Hey All! Well I'm writing about day 5 on day 6 so that should tell you what a day we had. So we did ALOT today, because it is the day before our last day. We climbed a mountain today..yes when I say climb I'm not exaggerating. You will see in the pictures what I'm talking about. So there is this region called Tibidabo that is the highest point in Barcelona. You can look down and see fantastic views of the city. Well we were going to take the bus to the highest point, then we were going to ride this thing called the funicular, which is like a half of a subway train car...But it's on a slope. Well when the bus gets to the top the translator tells us that the funicular is not working today. That bummed us out because that was the purpose of the whole bus ride. But we decided to get off anyway, because the area looked amazing with all different kinds of architecture and little parks. The area looked totally different then the city with green trees and budding flowers everywhere. So we start walking up this road called Tibidabo and see the church at the top of the mountain that we wanted to go originally. Well Dave convinced me that we should just give it a try and walk up the mountain. I can't complain about the views walking up it, but we definitely took the wrong route up. There were some very steep hills and we both weren't prepared for a hike..no water, nothing to eat and I didn't have the right kind of shoes. We meet this nice British guy who didn't know how to get up there either, but he had a map. So we finally get up there, with a couple wrong turns. The view is amazing, but there is this amusement park right in front. And the rides are blocking part of the view...so that was a total disappointment. Here we walk up this mountain and our view is obscured by rides from a tourist trap amusement park. So we decide to ride the bus down, because by then we had been walking for about 4 hours and we didn't have any water or anything to eat. We get back to the area where our apartment is and we try some Barcelona street food. Bocadillos...which are sandwiches that have different types of fillings. We both got the Mediterranean one with tuna, peppers and olives. It was quite yummy. It was back to the apartment for a much needed nap before dinner.
